Individual Giving in Humanitarian and Development Organisations of the Civic Society

The diploma thesis deals with an issue of individual giving in organisations of the civic society aiming at humanitarian aid and official development assistance. The goal of the thesis is to reveal whether there is an executive or missionary approach in the field of individual giving. The theoretical part provides information from the professional literature about civic society organisations, their financing with an emphasis on individual giving as well as about the field of humanitarian aid and official development assistance. The empiric part contains an analysis of obtained data through annual reports of individual organisations and questionnaire construction, results of the research and practical recommendations.
A case study of management critical resources in a service organisation assisting single mothers during the Covid-19

This thesis examines the critical resource management of a service organization that assists single mothers during the Covid-19 pandemic. It describes the relevant critical resources for achieving the organization's objectives, including their acquisition and management of dependence on them. The thesis is guided by the resource dependency theory. In the context of the pandemic crisis, I have complemented the theoretical framework with institutional theory. This thesis uses a holistic case study design with a single case of the management of a service organization, the Single Mothers Club. Qualitative methods were used for data collection, including semi-structured interview and thematic analysis of publicly available documents and the informations of digital resources. The resulting findings arising from the data triangulation are interpreted in the empirical section into thematic chapters that relate to the set research objectives and research questions. Commercialization of civil society organizations from the perspective of managers in the field of elderly care in the Czech Republic

The diploma thesis focuses on the commercialization of civil society organizations (CSOs), specifically the institutional isomorphism that makes CSOs "business like" as well as the relationship between CSOs and the commercial sector in the context of commercialization. The purpose of this thesis is to gain an understanding of the manager's perspectives representing CSOs in the field of elderly care in the Czech Republic, with a particular emphasis on the institutional isomorphism and the relationships mentioned above. The findings of the study were obtained from narrative and semi-structured interviews with seven selected managers in the field of elderly care in the Czech Republic. The findings indicate that the participants regard the institutional isomorphism (coercive) as unfair and meaningless; patchy and outdated. The examination of the level of relationships between CSOs and the commercial sector resulted in the Relationships Typology. The typology presents three foundations based on need, reputation, and crisis that have been identified as the foundations for developing relationships between CSOs and the commercial sector. The role of communication strategy in nonprofit sector

New civil society organizations are those that are most often commercialized. Salamon (2005) discusses commercialization when organizations are motivated to offer services and products exclusively for profit. He presents commercialization as the penetration of market principles, culture and thinking into the non-profit sector. This phenomenon at NGOs serves the purpose of gaining financial independence and legitimization. On the other hand, the Center for Public Opinion Research (2019) published a report in which it was found that NGOs find themselves at the bottom places in a survey of credibility in selected institutions. The diploma thesis aimed to determine how NGOs should successfully communicate their activity to stakeholders to strengthen external credibility and gain financial independence and corporate culture. The research included techniques such as questionnaire survey, non- intrusive techniques and semi-structured interviews. The results have shown that the role of communication strategy is significant in the selected NGO. The NGO develops and evaluates the strategy annually and includes its entire organizational team. This diploma thesis explores online hate speech in context of non-governmental organizations defending the Roma rights. The theoretical part defines basic concepts related to civil society organizations, antigypsyism and hate speech.The research part is designed as a single-case study using a combination of non-intrusive research approaches and semi-structured interviews with employees of the selected organization, which is ROMEA, o.p.s. The aim of the thesis is to understand the organization's experience with online hate speech and its impact on its own activities. The thesis provides insights into what kind of online hate speech the organization faces, how it is perceived among its employees and how the organization approaches the issue. This work deals with the employment of representatives of a selected group of socially disadvantaged persons on the labor market, implemented through civil society organizations. The aim of the thesis is to find out how much participation civil society organizations have in supporting people with disabilities with the help of projects within the Employment Operational Program and whether support is evenly distributed in the Czech Republic and how big is a role civil society organizations have in this support. The theoretical part brings knowledge and characteristics of several terms connected with the topic of the diploma thesis. The empirical part is processed in the form of quantitative research with the aim of finding out how many civil society organizations are involved in the implementation of projects, how the given support for persons with disabilities is distributed in the Czech Republic, or to point out places where there is no such organization in the immediate vicinity or where there is no project implemented within the Operational Program Employment. The presented work deals with the role of civil society in solving indebtedness with an emphasis on civil counselling. It captures civil society organizations as an important part of society that operates between the state, the market and individuals. It describes the development of the issue of indebtedness in the Czech Republic. It maps the emergence of citizen advice and the development of the way citizen advice in general and more specifically in the area of debt issues. It describes the main actors in the field of debt solutions who operate among civil society organizations from the point of view of civil advice.

A Loving Home for Every Animal: Civic Engagement of Founders of Dog and Cat Shelters

This diploma thesis presents the conclusions of a qualitative research that dealt with the civic engagement of female founders of private shelters for dogs and cats. The topic is grasped on the basis of the theory of social movements and with the help of models bridging the opposition of volunteerism and activism. At the same time, the interpretation of the results of the thematic analysis relies on the concept of zoopolis, which presents citizenship as a category applicable to human-animal relations. The founders of private shelters approach the animals in their care as unmistakable individuals, beings with personhood and actors who can be and are invited to participate in decisions affecting their lives.
Organisational culture of self-government and non-profit organisations and its influence in achieving the objectives

This diploma thesis is focused on the organizational culture of self-government and non- governmental organizations and its impact on the goals set for the Housing First project. Civil society organizations, public administration, organizational culture, and the project itself are discussed in the thesis. The empirical part focuses on the organizational culture of both sectors. The main focus was to clarify whether organizational culture has an impact on the achievement of the project's goals.
